The concept of encaustic art seems new to everyone over here, although some artists have tried working with beeswax or paraffin. There is huge excitement about learning these new techniques, and people are begging Daniella for more. Yesterday we met a woman who organizes artists to fly into the Australian interior and teach art classes to the many people there who are hungry for this type of thing. So this is only the beginning!
Here you see Daniella in multiple layers of clothing, hat, gloves, boots, and pretty frozen anyway.
These two are Bernie and Sue, our wonderful hostesses here. They have kept us in their lovely home, fed us the most divine food ( home-baked breads and home-made jams, endless cups of warm tea, a great pasta dinner, a lovely picnic lunch, etc.) and we have enjoyed many happy hours of conversation with them and great laughter. The four of us are so compatible and have much in common - hopefully this will only be the first of many wonderful adventures together. Thank you dear women for a royal Australian welcome!

Wow, Kim- thanks for showing Australia to us- we are living vicariously through your adventures here in Santa Cruz. Are you going anywhere near Byron Bay? I have a wonderful artist friend there I will put you in touch with if you are. Looking forward to more stories...
Susan, we will be a week in Brisbane at the end of the month and would love to meet your friend! Send us an email....
